ForrestBrown Limited

Preferred Suppliers, Digital / Mobile

ForrestBrown is award-winning firm of chartered tax advisers, sector specialists and ex-HMRC inspectors specialising in research and development (R&D) tax credits. We are friendly and plain-speaking chartered tax advisers who use the government's R&D tax incentive to help innovative business fund their growth and disrupt their chosen market place.

R&D tax credits, a form of tax relief that rewards UK companies for investing in innovation, is all ForrestBrown do. This level of specialism means its chartered tax advisers, sector specialists and ex-HMRC inspectors have a deep understanding of the R&D tax legislation and its application to businesses throughout the UK. ForrestBrown is one of the largest teams of chartered tax advisers specialising in R&D tax credits in the UK.

ForrestBrown’s rigorous approach and robust methodology mean they have never been unsuccessful, have a far lower enquiry rate than the national average and often spot valid R&D that others have missed.

ForrestBrown pride themselves on delivering outstanding service. Their clients and partners like working with ForrestBrown because they combine technical excellence with a passion for innovation. They come back to them because they consistently deliver fantastic results. And they refer ForrestBrown to others because they trust that they will deliver the same results to companies and people in their network.

Our head office is located in Bristol and our door is always open. We offer a free consultation to companies who want to find out about more R&D tax credits. Speak to us on 0117 926 9022.

Key People

Simon Brown CTA Managing Director & Founder

Simon is the driving force behind ForrestBrown's rapid growth. He founded ForrestBrown in 2013 having identified an acute need from innovative companies for highly targeted R&D tax credit advice. They either did not recognise their activities could qualify for the valuable tax incentive, or were not claiming for all that they were entitled. In an extra twist, he modelled the culture of ForrestBrown on the vibrant and often disruptive style of many of the client companies he was advising – far removed from the traditional image of a tax consultancy. Simon is a highly experienced R&D tax credit specialist and chartered tax adviser himself. His vision and values have created a thriving, vibrant R&D tax credit consultancy that wins awards for its technical expertise, service and entrepreneurial flair.

Adam Kotas CTA Director

Adam is a director at ForrestBrown and a chartered tax adviser with a decade of experience. After beginning his career with Deloitte in 2006, he joined a consultancy in Bath, gaining valuable experience working with entrepreneurs throughout the country. Since joining us in 2014, he has focused on working with fast-growing companies and venture capital funds, advising them on how to use R&D tax credits to support growth.

Alex Price CTA Director

A chartered tax adviser and a director of ForrestBrown, Alex works with a wide range of businesses, big and small, offering insightful and practical advice. He also oversees our partnerships with accountants and other advisers. After beginning his career at Deloitte in London, he moved to Bristol to work for the tax team at PwC. Then in 2014, he joined ForrestBrown, bringing over a decade of experience with him.

Lisa Marie-Smith CTA Director

Lisa-Marie joined ForrestBrown in 2013 and became a director in 2014. She is a qualified solicitor as well as a chartered tax adviser and highly experienced R&D specialist. With this extensive knowledge, she is able to give strategic advice on corporate tax matters and has successfully recouped millions of pounds for clients under the government's R&D tax credit incentive. She has a particular passion for all things digital.

Jennifer Tragner CA Director

Jenny is a director at ForrestBrown and a member of HMRC’s R&D Consultative Committee. She joined us in 2015, having worked in the tax industry for over a decade. A Chartered Accountant and member of the Association of Tax Technicians, Jennifer started her career at KPMG, focusing primarily on corporate tax.
