We help tomorrow’s nonprofits create digital products and services fast, transforming their organisations along the way.

As well as digital product development, we're also the founding developers of Wagtail CMS and continue to lead the open source project. And, we deliver bespoke, data-driven campaigns that achieve record-breaking results, across the full digital marketing spectrum.

Our clients include: The NHS, NASA, The Samaritans, Oxfam, the Department for International Trade, the University of Pennsylvania and many more.

We are also proud to be the UK's first employee owned digital product agency.

Medecins Sans Frontieres

?Torchbox helped us explore our ideas, pushing us further than we would have gone ourselves, and worked really hard to understand our brand and our priorities, which will ultimately always be our frontline work with patients. MSF is not always the easiest client as we are particular about how we present ourselves, and there is no shortage of opinions and ideas. Torchbox embraced this and were very flexible while also pushing back when needed. It was a great partnership." - Ben...

Museum of London

Nigel Ludlow. Director of Assets, Museum of London: "We wanted our new website to be clearer for users, to showcase our galleries, to create a new virtual space where we can publish our perspectives on London, to optimise e-commerce opportunities and to reflect our brand. We are delighted that the new site delivers each of these objectives in.

University of Oxford

Seven years after our original redevelopment of www.ox.ac.uk in RationalMedia, the University of Oxford commissioned us to take another look at their site and rebuild it in Drupal.

Working in partnership with Centrepoints Youth Homelessness Databank team, we have successfully developed the UKs first central source for youth homelessness data. The Youth Homelessness Databank not only allows local authorities and charities to easily upload data, but it also consolidates and presents youth homelessness data in an easy to understand, digestible format which can better help affect future change.

Key People

Will Heinemann Digital Consultant

Will looks after our new business and tells our story to prospective clients and partners. He works hard to ensure we’re pitching for the most exciting projects and that we’re a good fit for prospective clients.

Will has been a part of the Drupal community for over four years and led sales efforts at two specialist open source. He has seen hundreds of digital briefs and worked on large digital projects with the likes of Pearson Education, MSF, UK Trade and Investment and Cambridge Consultants.

When not working, Will loves spending time with his family, thinking about Ducati bikes, travelling as much as possible and socialising with friends.

Tom Dyson Technical Director & Managing Director

Tom graduated from Balliol College, Oxford, in 1995, swapping the later philosophy of Wittgenstein for Netscape 2 and a 9600 baud modem. He ran a little agency called Naïve, until he joined forces with Olly in 2000, starting Torchbox with the aim of building beautiful online software for people who make the world a better place.

As Technical Director, Tom is responsible for making sure the things we build are fast and reliable and easy to maintain. He manages the tech team and account directs many of our large technical projects. Along with Olly, Tom tries to make Torchbox a fun and inspiring place to work.

Tom lives with his family in the countryside. He reads novels and gets cross at tennis. He plays in three bands who will probably never make it. He composed the theme tune to Charlie and Lola.

Olly Willans Creative Director & Managing Director

Olly is ultimately responsible for the design, digital strategy, user experience, and information architecture work at Torchbox. Along with Tom, Olly also fulfils the role of MD at Torchbox.

Olly ensures that Torchbox doesn't just meet expectations in our projects, but exceeds them. And, after sixteen years, Olly is just as excited about the Internet's potential as a force for social good as he was in the first dot-com days.

Olly is a married dad of three. He enjoys sports (cyclingskiingtenniscricketsquash), and dabbles with am-dram! He is currently rehearsing for a much-anticipated role as the Sheriff of Nottingham, in the Northmoor Village pantomime. To the shame of his son and father-in-law, Olly is only a half-hearted Manchester United supporter.
