Job description

As senior writer contributing content for one client, or a number of different clients, you’ll be responsible for the conception, creation and bringing to life of engaging content on websites, in CRM and in social media environments. Given the more senior nature of this role, you will also participate in the more strategic aspects of the creative delivery on your team.

Main responsibilities

  • Work alongside the editor to execute the editorial strategy and maintain client relationships
  • Conceive content ideas to meet the client’s communication objectives
  • Create content in words, video, graphics and photography for the website and social media activities
  • Maintain an appropriate editorial tone of voice for each brand and ensure the accuracy and quality of all content
  • Liaise with media agencies to ensure they have our posting schedules and all information required to implement paid media
  • Liaise with other Zone staff, other client agencies and freelancers to ensure the smooth production of content
  • Participate in client-facing meetings and calls, as required
  • Work with the editor to build key media, partner and blogger relationships to ensure the successful reach of key pieces of content, as required
  • Own the web, social media and CRM content calendars, as required
  • Play a key role in web and social reporting, and contribute to the setting of KPIs, as required

Leadership and line management

  • Management of more junior members of the team (such as community manager or editorial assistant) on ad hoc projects/work, as required
  • Take the lead on creative projects, as required, with support from the editor. This could be a video shoot, infographic or content to support a brand campaign/initiative

Person specification

  • Demonstrable experience as a community manager/writer/content producer
  • Understanding of content strategy basics, such as tone of voice, point of view, posting strategy and channel strategy
  • A self-starter, confident in your own writing ability, with a clear understanding of how to tell stories through articles, videos, graphics and images
  • A working knowledge of other creative disciplines, with a basic understanding of UX, visual design and video production
  • Good knowledge of content management applications, social media content management systems and CRM systems
  • Good knowledge of web, CRM and social reporting tools, and social listening tools
  • Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with, and pitching to, the client
  • Good understanding of SEO
  • Strong understanding of, and experience in, crisis management
