Job description

We have a truly exciting opportunity for a Learning Technologist to work alongside the People Development team at the National Trust head office in Swindon. Within this position you’ll work closely with the Learning Technologies Manager acting as ambassador of technology enabled learning (TEL) who’ll interact with engaged learners and course owners across the Trust in promoting its use.

Heelis is the Central Office for the National Trust; it was named after one of the Trust’s biggest benefactors Mrs William Heelis. There are approximately 500 staff from across the Trust’s directorates, including the Executive team and the Director General, are based here.

Heelis was designed to be highly sustainable and has won a number of nationally recognised awards. Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects in 2005, this architectural gem uses timber from our woodlands and wool from Herdwick sheep grazed on Trust farmlands, to help make Heelis a unique working environment.

What you'll be doing

As Learning Technologist, you will have responsibility in the design, development and delivery of learning content in line with recognised methodologies with a focus on the learning experience of the end user.

The role will also support the production of learning management information and the provision of evaluation and learning insights. We’re looking for someone with a creative edge who keeps an eye on new developments and emerging trends in technology, ensuring the organisation remains at the forefront of the creative learning sector.

Person specification

We'd like to hear from you if you are/have:

Understanding the principles of excellent customer service

Understanding of the learning cycle e.g. design, development and evaluation stages of learning development.

A creative/ graphic design background, competent in design packages e.g. Photoshop, Elucidat

Audio and video editing

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters simply.

Skilled information finder, can use initiative to find solutions.

Accuracy and an eye for detail.

Highly organised, able to prioritise and work in an efficient way.

Intermediate level of Microsoft Office skills.

And it will be helpful if you can demonstrate the following experience on your CV/application;

Experience of working in a deadline driven environment.

Successfully building and managing internal customer and stakeholder relationships.
