Client expectations of Agencies in a changing environment

Where: Paintworks Event Space, Bath Road, Bristol, BS4 3EH

When: 13 June 2017 9:00am to 12:30pm

Winning new clients can be time-consuming and costly, so it is imperative to ensure existing relationships run smoothly. At the heart of this is a detailed understanding of client expectations.

Join Professor Tim Hughes and Dr Mario Vafeas from Bristol Business School at this Bristol Media event for essential insights from their latest research with clients. The event will be interactive and will cover:

  • Client expectations of agencies in a changing environment
  • Key factors that help or hinder client–agency relationships
  • A client-based perspective on how to be a partner, rather than just a supplier
  • Practical advice on how to refine agency processes to meet client needs
  • Awareness of how to win long-term commitment from the client

Speakers
Professor Tim Hughes and Dr Mario Vafeas from the Applied Marketing Group at Bristol Business School (UWE) have conducted and analysed many interviews with agencies and clients looking at the challenges of working together.

This research is important in talking to both clients and their agencies and generating some very interesting perspectives on a relationship that is fundamental within the marketing and creative sectors.

Professor Tim Hughes previously worked in senior marketing positions at Heinz, Nestle, Skipton Building Society and Bristol & West Building Society. He has been a client to many agencies including: JWT, Dorlands, FCB, McCann Erickson, Greys, Gillett & Bevan (Manchester), JPH (Bristol), Procter & Stevenson (Bristol).

Dr Mario Vafeas is Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Bristol Business School (University of the West of England). His interest in the study of client-agency relationships began more than 10 years ago with his PhD. Besides academic publications, the research has led to a variety of knowledge-sharing initiatives with industry practitioners. Prior to entering the academic world in 2010, he worked on both the client (HJ Heinz and Harveys of Bristol) and agency side.
